Ending the 2011-2012 Winter Season With a Splash!
Competitors ranging from ages 10 to 36 dressed for the occasion. A "Red Hot" chili pepper, a group of super heros, Peter Pan & Big Air Granny were just a few characters seen skimming the icy water.
Skiers and boarders tested their skills at skimming the length of an icy cold pond at the Slush Cup Pond Skim held Saturday, April 7th.
Competitors ranging from ages 10 to 36 dressed for the occasion. A "Red Hot" chili pepper, a group of super heros, Peter Pan & Big Air Granny were just a few characters seen skimming the icy water. "It is definitely the coldest water I have ever been in!" said Michael Westfall, the hippie, after taking the icy plunge in his attempt to cross the pond, skimming switch.

The event delivered a lot entertainment for the crowd. Spectators cheered on each smooth glide... leaving the skimmer high and dry. Bigger cheers were heard when competitors lost their balance and toppled creating crowd pleasing splashes!
Snowboarder, Evan Chess, earned the award for Biggest Splash after flying high and BELLY FLOPPING into the pond!

Skier KJ Redder, dressed as Peter Pan said, "That was the most fun competition I have ever been in!"
Awards were given for best skim, best costume & biggest splash.

Annalisa Merrell, 10 years old, our youngest and only girl competitor was up late the night before working on her costume. Dressed as an Ipod she attempted to skim the pond making a big splash. Her efforts paid off! She received 1st place and won the drawing for a snowboard donated by Pepsi Bottling Ventures!
