The Smoke Sled blazed down the race course at
Pomerelle's very first Box Car Derby!
The Box Car Derby was held Saturday, March 31st on Spring Creek Run. Competitors used their creativity to build box cars out of ONLY cardboard, tape, string & glue! There were no limits on design with the use of graphics & paint. Kicking off our first Box Car Derby, six box cars raced individually for the fastest time across the finish line.
First place & the $200 prize went to team JZ, Jesus Loya and Zack Alexander, both from Albion. Team JZ had a clean run from starting gate to finish line!
Third place went to team Cubtastrophy. Their box car was built by three Webelos scouts in 2 hours! Team racers were John & Jaden Paul, from Burley.

Best Presentation (Design) & the $100 prize went to team Fast Food, Melissa Bahr (Twin Falls). Melissa was dressed as an adorable hamburger, and rode a decked-out red snowmobile. Yes, the snowmobile was made of cardboard! It was made with incredible detail, impressing the judges and the crowd!

Pomerelle employees Wendy Pederson, McKayla Jones, Jamie Baily & Hilary Harris worked together to build the Silver Bullet. The name fits their car's sleek lines and massive use of duct tape!
A BIG THANKS goes out to David Bahr for making and donating the amazing trophies!!

The Box Car Derby was so much fun! Can't wait till next year!!
Get your team together & see if you can create the fastest box car!
